Migrating to new System

If you want to install the AlbumPlayer on a new system and you want to transfer your database, then this can be done. You have to copy your database and your music to the new system, and to make it yourself easy put the music in exactly the same spot. So if the music was in C:\MyMusic, put it in the new system also in C:\MyMusic . If you don't do this then you need an additional step, you have to redirect the paths in the AP database to a new location.

See here step by step what to do.

  • Make a backup of C:\AlbumPlayerData (default DB locaton).
  • Copy C:\AlbumPlayerData to your new system.
  • Copy your music files to the new system (preferably same drive and folder name)
  • Install AP on the new system
  • Start AP, it will ask for the database, confirm that it is in C:\AlbumPlayerData
  • Optional if music is in new location. Use the function Redirect Track Files To New Location  to fix AP paths.
  • Check if your music plays well and paths are all updated fine

Important note: After transferring, don't use Scan Disk For New Track Files immediately. First check if current paths are correct, otherwise it will detect everything as new files and you will end up with double albums and songs.

If anything might go wrong start over and use your backup made in first step.
